Happy New Year to all of our customers, partners, and friends! 2019 marked a tremendous year of growth and opportunity for our team. In case you missed it, here’s a look at some of our biggest moments from the last year and what’s next for the company in 2020.

A New HQ

After outgrowing six office spaces in six years, we established our official headquarters at 227 Fayetteville Street—right in the heart of Downtown Raleigh. We’ve been lucky enough to call this space our home for a full year now.

New Places and New Faces ✨

We welcomed quite a few new faces in 2019, including some additions to our leadership team. “Device Magic is on a mission to transform the way our customers collect and use data,” said Dusan Babich, CEO. “Through these hires, Device Magic intends to bolster sales, marketing, and engineering initiatives that directly support that mission.”

In April, we welcomed Dave Conklin as our VP of Engineering. Dave brings over 25 years of software solution & product delivery experience with companies ranging in size from small start-ups to Fortune 500 and Global 100 corporations in a variety of industries where he lead hardware and software engineering teams to accelerate new product development. As VP of Engineering at Device Magic, his focus is on providing technology & engineering leadership using Agile methodologies to a distributed team of talented developers who deliver value to our customers via our mobile forms solution. In his short time with the company, Dave has nearly doubled the number of Device Magic development and support team members.

Over the summer we welcomed another executive to our leadership team with the addition of Ken Pittman as VP of Marketing. Ken has over 20 years of marketing and web development experience. Ken was an early pioneer of social media marketing within the music industry, successfully promoting multiple artists into the top 20 albums on iTunes. Prior to joining Device Magic, Ken served as VP of Marketing for TrueLook Construction Cameras where he drove brand growth, customer acquisition, and product development; his efforts transforming a 3-employee SaaS startup into an industry leader with an 8-figure ARR.

Out of Office ️

Occasionally, we snuck out the office for company outings—including a visit to Durham to cheer on the Bulls baseball team, and Garner’s Rush Hour Karting to satisfy our development and support team’s need for speed.

The fun continued with an expansion of corporate benefits from additional healthcare options to individual YMCA memberships, covered 100% by the company.

Device Magic’s Chief Technology Officer, Mike Welham was invited to Capital Broadcasting to sit down with James Amato, Strategy and Business Development Manager for WRAL Techwire. James and Mike discussed the unique value proposition of Device Magic and how the company contributes to the Triangle startup community as a whole in WRAL’s Tech On Tap podcast. Prior to our podcast debut, Device Magic saw six additional mentions in WRAL TechWire that highlight the impact of our product here in North Carolina and beyond. To close out the year, Device Magic took second place in the annual WRAL Voters’ Choice Awards for “Most Innovative Startup”.

Our sales and marketing teams joined forces to attend and inspire at conferences in New Orleans, LA and Amelia Island, FL. We found great success connecting with attendees and are currently planning return trips with even more events in 2020. Keep an eye out for our team on the road throughout the year!
